Intertrust Cayman sponsor the Sir John A. Cumber Breakfast Programme
It’s a proven fact, that skipping breakfast can lead to concentration issues, cause lethargy and can impact creativity. Children who start the day with a meal are found to be more physically active, and better behaved. The programme was brought to Intertrust by Jenna Gaio, a senior client relationship officer at the company. Jenna has a son that attends the primary and she has seen firsthand the need for the breakfast club. “I brought this initiative to the Intertrust charity committee, with the intention of obtaining a small donation to get the breakfast programme off the ground; however, Intertrust has surpassed, not just my own expectations, but those of the school by sponsoring this entire programme. We are very grateful.”
Managing Director, Lesley Connolly said, “As a parent, it upsets me greatly that any child should start the day hungry. The fact that Intertrust is able to help, thanks to funds raised by our employees is something that pleases me enormously.”
Currently the club can accommodate 35 children, offering a breakfast of cereal and fresh fruit, and Tim Eastwood, Physical Education Teacher at Sir John A. Cumber Primary School is pleased with how it is going so far. “We truly appreciate Intertrust and the efforts made to give our children a great start to their day.”
The donation was raised by Intertrust employees, who have spearheaded a number of internal, original fundraising ideas, all with the children of Sir John A. Cumber in mind. Additionally, 14 Intertrust employees volunteered two hours of their time to assist with race time-keeping duties at the school’s annual swimming gala held on Friday 27 April at the Lions Aquatic Centre in George Town.
“We are so grateful for the overwhelming response of Intertrust Cayman to partner with the PTA as the sole sponsor providing this much needed service to our children. Their employees have come onboard full-swing with such creative and fun ideas to raise these funds. The children are enjoying their breakfast daily, which makes for a joyful child who is eager to learn. We aim to increase the number of children who will access the Breakfast Programme in the coming year; with the expectation of seeing better results of increased academic achievement and healthier behaviour patterns. A warm and sincere thank you, Intertrust Cayman, from the Sir John A. Cumber Primary PTA and families.”
