12 August 2024 – The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has published the Directives Concerning the Election of the IOC President for the presidential election to be held at the IOC Session from 18 to 21 March 2025 in Athens, Greece. This follows the distribution of the directives to the IOC Members.

Any IOC Member wishing to be a candidate for the election must declare their intention to be a candidate in a letter to the IOC President by no later than 15 September 2024. The final list of candidates will be published by the IOC on 16 September 2024.

The candidature campaign will start on 16 September 2024, as decided by the IOC Executive Board.
