Is fitness important in sports specifically in volleyball?

Sports…Well the closest word related to Sports is Fitness. Fitness is an important part of sports.

You can become fit by playing sports. But do you need to be fit to play?

Is fitness important in sports, specifically in volleyball?

Fitness is an important aspect in sports. You need to be fit to be able to play any sports professionally. 

If you want to become an Athlete or play any sports, you will require a specific level of fitness. 

Fitness

Fitness is the ability to perform physical activity, or any sports. Each sport and activities require us a specific set of skills and level of fitness to be fit for us to get better performance as the same.

Fitness Composition

There are some specific fitness which is required in sports, body composition. 

Standard Body Size:

Some sports require a standard measure of body sizes, such as a specific height or weight.

For example, basketball requires a good height, whereas sumo wrestling requires good weight. 

Muscular strength:

 Some sports require muscular strength i.e the ability to work out against resistance. 

For example, weightlifting, wrestling, swimming, etc.

Muscular Endurance:

Some Sports require Muscular Endurance. It is the ability to handle the stress on muscles.

Sports such as weightlifting and wrestling require great muscular endurance.

Power:

Power is the ability to generate a maximum force from your body in a short time. 

Sports which require a high level of power are boxing, martial arts, etc. 

Speed:

Speed is the ability to move quickly from one place to another. 

Sports which require Good speed is racing, football, basketball, etc. 

Agility:

Agility is the ability of the body to change its position or direction quickly. 

Sports which require a high level of agility of volleyball, basketball, tennis, etc.

Flexibility:

Flexibility is the capability of moving every joint of the body in its full range of motions. 

For example, Badminton, Tennis, Volleyball, gymnastics, Ribbon Sport, etc. 

Balance and Coordination:

The ability to stay firm, and having full control over your body movement is known as balance and coordination.

Sports which require a high level of balance are gymnastics, Volleyball etc.

Cardiovascular endurance:

Cardiovascular Endurance is the ability to work without getting tired easily. 

Sports which require high Cardiovascular Endurance are Football, Runnin, Swimming, etc.

Volleyball

 Volleyball is a team sport. There are two teams and one ball.  They both have to raise the ball with their hands. And so, whenever, when a team member leaves the ball there will be a score.

The other team always tries to round the ball on the other team’s side and defend their side.

Volleyball is an interesting game but it also requires a high level of fitness. 

Let us see, with what fitness specification is required in volleyball.

Fitness required in Volleyball

To be successful in volleyball, a player has to ensure these fitness compositions.

  1. Speed

Volleyball requires good Speed. To get over the wall and hit it quickly requires a high level of speed. 

  1. Power

A player has to hit the ball at the power so that it lands to the ground of the other team’s side.

  1. Agility

To add to move your body to respond to the ball quickly and hit the ball before it lands to the ground,

  1. Jumping

 Volleyball athletes are required to jump high. To  hit the ball and defend your team. 

Moreover, The vertical jumps also help in force production stability and help the athlete to exert maximum force on the ball.

  1. Flexibility

Volleyball is a sport, which requires a more full muscle moment. The players should be flexible to minimize stress on joints and ligaments. 

Flexible athletes will be able to exert more force without hurting your joints and ligaments.

  1. Cardiovascular endurance

The the volleyball requires a high level of movement and the body gets tired easily. The player should have a high level of cardiovascular endurance so that they can play for longer periods without getting fatigued easily.

Conclusion

Yes, fitness is an important part of sports. You become fit by playing sports and you need to be fit to be able to play sports. 

Volleyball is an intensive sports. You have to use your whole body to be able to play it. 

Therefore if you want to play Volleyball seriously and want to become a professional player then start by developing these fitness compositions.

And you may increase your Volleyball skills.
