Jabez Foundation donates to Cayman Islands Paediatric Department
The Jabez Foundation, a not-for-profit company, recently donated US$2,722 to the Cayman Islands Health Services Authority’s (HSA’s) Paediatric Department for the purchase of a Welch Allyn Spot Vital Signs Device.
This device provides vital signs in seconds with hospital-grade technology. The model selected, with appropriate paediatric accessories, accurately and reliably measures temperature, blood pressure, pulse rate, oxygen saturation in the blood.
Jeana Ebanks of the Jabez Foundation explained the organisation’s reason for making the donation. “As a charity that advocates for children and with this year’s focus being on child health we enquired as to the immediate needs of the pediatric unit and selected the item that we believed would have a far-reaching impact throughout the unit,” she said.
“The Paediatric Department of the Cayman Islands Hospital is heartened by the willingness of non-profit organisations, community groups and private institutions who partner with the hospital to enhance the quality of care provided to our paediatric patients. In this instance, we are delighted and appreciative of the generous contribution by the Jabez Foundation for the purchase of a spot vital signs device for use in the Paediatric Clinic,” said head of department, Dr Earl Robinson.
With its very own Welch Allyn Spot Vital Signs machine, the Paediatric Clinic can now ensure the efficient measuring of the vital signs of registered patients — for screening purposes in the healthy patients as well as assessing the severity of illness in the acutely or chronically ill patients.
The Jabez Foundation said it is honored to partner with the HSA in this public private partnership arrangement and expects the device will be the first of many contributions.
“We say a big thank you to the Jabez Foundation and will ensure prudent care and maintenance of this costly equipment. We look forward to partnering in other ventures in the future,” Dr Robinson added.
