Jamaica: Canadian arrested at Sangster Airport for cocaine
ST JAMES, Jamaica – The police are reporting the arrest of a male Canadian visitor after the seizure of approximately five pounds of cocaine at the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, St James on Thursday.
Reports from the Narcotics Police are that about 12:30 pm, the Canadian arrived at the airport and was in the process of checking in to board a departing flight to Toronto when he was interviewed and his luggage searched.
During the search, a number of packages containing cocaine weighing approximately five pounds with an estimated street value of $3 million were found.
The Canadian was arrested on reasonable suspicion for breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act.
His identity is being withheld pending interview in the presence of his attorney-at-law, the police said.
