NEW YORK, United States, Friday February 7, 2014, CMC – Prosecutors have indicted a Jamaican-born transvestite in the death of a four-year-old boy in her care.

Kryzie King, 27, was indicted in the Manhattan Supreme Court on 12 charges, including first-degree assault, reckless endangerment and endangering the welfare of a child.

King pleaded not guilty to the charges. He had been given temporary custody of four-year-old Myls Dobson, 4, by his father who was serving a jail term at the time. Dobson died on January 8.

Justice Robert Stolz has ordered that King be held without bail as prosecutors say they expect to bring a murder charge soon. Prosecutors said they were awaiting the final autopsy results on the toddler.

Dobson was found unconscious at King’s midtown Manhattan apartment, prosecutors said, alleging that he had been starved and tortured.

In arguing for a revocation of King’s bail, which was previously set at US$500,000, Assistant District Attorney Nicole Blumberg told the court that to date the medical examiner knows “there is no known disease that caused (Dobson’s) death”.

She said there were injuries throughout the child’s body, including to his “head, leg, neck, abdomen, wrists, ankles finger, armpit and testicles.

“The people are still investigating a murder charge and will likely bring a homicide case once the autopsy is concluded,” Blumberg said.

But King’s lawyer, Bryan Konoski, asked the court for a psychiatric examination of his client, which will be done by Dr. Eric Goldsmith.

Konoski said Goldsmith would examine King as “part of the due diligence associated with this case.

“He’s really just appointed at this point because I want to know a little bit about my client’s mental history and psychiatric background if there is any,” Konoski said.
