Jamaicans on the prowl in ITF junior tourney

MANY Jamaicans will be in action Sat (8) as they hunt places in the main draw of the 2017 International Tennis Federation (ITF)/Jamaica Invitational Junior Tennis Tournament starting at the Eric Bell Tennis Centre, starting at 9:00 am.

The two-day qualifying round which ends tomorrow, will also see players from other countries vying for places in the main draw of the boys’ and girls’ 18 and under, and boys and girls 14 and under singles.

So far, several Jamaicans have been preparing for the ITF Jamaica Juniors which is scheduled to get underway on Monday with action in the first round of the main draw.

According to tournament director David Sanguinetti, players are expected to come from the United States of America (USA), Great Britain, Argentina, Cayman Islands, Japan, hosts Jamaica, along with a number of other countries.

He said this is an international Level Four tournament for juniors 14 and 18 years old, which is played every year in Jamaica. The contestants are seeking points to increase their world rankings.
