Jet skier found safe and well following air and sea search

A 58-year-old woman turned up safe and well last night following an extensive air and sea search which lasted well over four hours.

Shortly after 7.00pm on Sunday, 14 April, a man and a woman, who were on separate jet skis, were stopped by officers of the Joint Marine Unit and warned about their speeding in the vicinity of Morgan’s Harbour.  Around 30 minutes later the man contacted police to say that he had lost sight of his wife on her jet ski near Morgan’s Harbour.

A large scale search and rescue operation was immediately launched involving the Joint Marine and Air Operations Units. Several private boats also joined the search. Beach areas, docks, canals and the North Sound were all extensively searched but no sign of the missing woman, or her jet ski, could be found. Then, just before midnight police received a call to say that the woman was with a family member at a condo complex on Seven Mile Beach.

The search was stood down shortly after midnight when officers spoke to the woman and confirmed that she was indeed safe and well.
