Our Resort seeks a hands-on, dynamic and upbeat individual, who must be flexible with working both in the office and ‘out on the field’ to ensure the upmost in guest enjoyment and in turn having their finger on the pulse with management oversight.
The position is not suited to an individual who has worked solely within the corporate hospitality segment. Our Operations Manager must be adaptive to a single model resort structure and in turn be able to liaise with an off-site head office and assist with leading the on-site team on a remote island ensuring the continuation of our company’s successes.
A problem-solver with an open-mind and the ability to manage a high volume of variables at any given time will enjoy this position and will in turn motivate and inspire a multi-cultural team. Summary of essential job functions:
Direct oversight and management of the Food & Beverage experience at The Birds of Paradise Restaurant & Beach Nuts Bar. A Head Chef and Dining Room Supervisor will report directly to the Operations Manager to support the needs of the guest experience at each outlet. Also, ensuring a thorough handling of all food aspects from the BOH Kitchen Management to the FOH Dining Room & Bar operations. A strong grasp of costs control and detailed reporting to the Resort Manager daily is paramount.
Assist the Resort Manager in the daily management of the resort, including all departments and areas of the facility. Including but not limited to Front Desk functions including all revenue and reservation procedures to ensure a balance of excellent guest services and working with the US corporate office to manage on island receivables.
Assisting the Resort Manager with employee recruitment, scheduling, coaching, and maintaining performance reviews.
Procuring and ordering of supplies, inventory control and cost control (as it relates to purchasing and working hours).
Liaising with Housekeeping and Maintenance departments to ensure compliance with quality and resort standards in all areas of the hotel and condominiums rentals. Maintain procedures to ensure routine inspections of all rooms, condo’s and public areas. Ensure preventative maintenance programs are maintained to protect the physical assets.
Liaising with contractors for out-sourced projects as required.
In the Resort Manager’s absence, oversee the resort and attend functions and meetings on behalf of the resort and to serve as Manager on Duty (MOD) as required. Reside on property to effectively act as such.
Other miscellaneous duties as required.
Requirements:
Minimum requirements
4+ years hotel experience, with a minimum of 2 years in a management-related capacity, preferably in a 4-5 star hotel/resort
Hotel Management diploma/degree required
A positive, outgoing, and buoyant attitude
Exceptional organizational and time-management skills
Caribbean and/or remote resort experience an asset
Avid interest in Scuba Diving or experience at a Dive Resort is a plus!
