Job Opportunity: Montserrat
The Government of Montserrat is inviting applications from suitably qualified persons for the post of Community Development Officer, Social Services, within the Ministry of Health and Social Services, Government of Montserrat.
JOB PURPOSE
To assist in the planning and implementation of the Government of Montserrat’s (GOM’s) welfare and community programmes to improve the social, economic and emotional condition of all persons on Montserrat.
RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:
•Maintaining accurate case files and manage case load.
•Assuring the flow of information within the Department, and to other departments or agencies.
•Liaising with local, regional and international organizations with respect to social and community development.
•Preparing social and community development reports and other reports.
•Developing, coordinating, monitoring and evaluating community based programmes and action plans in collaboration with Non-Governmental Organizations and community groups.
•Assisting with the formulation and implementation of Corporate, Business, Work and Disaster Preparedness Plans for the Department.
•Assisting with the preparation of Budget Estimates.
•Providing public education on Social welfare issues.
•Attending workshops and seminars pertaining to community development and Social welfare issues.
•Monitoring, assessing and responding to all conventions, which place a social obligation on the Government of Montserrat.
•Serving on special committees dealing with matters pertaining to community development and social welfare when requested.
•Providing counseling for individuals, families and other groups.
•Making field visits in response to social, and community development issues.
•Visiting Community Groups to determine needs.
•Performing investigations and prepare reports on various social issues.
•Visiting designated geographical area regularly and maintain up to date community profiles and reports.
CANDIDATES QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE PROFILE
The applicants must:
•Have a Bsc in Social Work or related discipline
•Have Project Planning and Management
•Have 2-3 years related experience
•Have 5 O’Levels
•Be Computer literate
•Have Database Management skills
•Have excellent written communication skills
•Have excellent supervisory, management and leadership skills
TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF ENGAGEMENT
Appointment will be made either on a permanent or contractual basis.
REMUNERATION PACKAGE
The total annual remuneration package for the post of Community Development Officer is broken down as follows: –
•Basic Salary is in the salary scale R28-R22, that is EC$40,248.00 -EC$49,392.00 (Taxable)
ALLOWANCES
•Travel- EC$9,600.00
•Telephone – EC$720.00 (taxable)
