John Gray High School Students Tour Airport Terminal
Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands (10 March 2021) The Cayman Islands Airports Authority (CIAA), which operates the Owen Roberts International Airport (ORIA) and the Charles Kirkconnell International Airport (CKIA), was pleased to host a group of John Gray High school (JGHS) Year 10 BTEC Travel and Tourism students at ORIA.
Members of various CIAA teams, including Safety, Airport Security and Airport Operations, provided the students with a practical learning experience, which included a Q&A session about the diverse roles at the Airports, a discussion on the functions and processes of airport operations and a video presentation of the future of airports and travel. The visit concluded with a guided walking tour through the ORIA terminal, an up-close look of the British Airways B777 aircraft that was parked on the apron and a bus ride around the newly expanded airfield.
“The tour was an enriched educational experience that gave a behind-the-scenes look at the operations of an airport,” said JGHS’s Humanities Department Teacher Terryann A. Robinson who organised the tour. “It was a rewarding and fulfilling day for the JGHS BTEC Travel and Tourism teacher, staff and students.”
The students are currently studying the Travel and Tourism Industry, as well as organisations within the Travel and Tourism Sector as a part of their course.
