Judge Judy calls SCOTUS Expansion ‘Dumb’

Judge Judy has delivered a verdict on the U.S. Supreme Court expansion: ”Dumb.”
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Judith Sheindlin took on a range of questions as she announced she was walking away from the ”Judge Judy” show that made her an icon over the past 25 years.
The grilling included her thoughts about expanding the U.S. Supreme Court.
”It’s a dumb idea,” she declared.
”We’ve worked brilliantly in this country with the Supreme Court exactly the way it is. Changing it makes absolutely no sense to me, except politically. As vacancies become available, the next crop may represent one view and it may not.
”Judges very often become chameleons when they take the bench,” she said.
In April, a group of Democrats introduced the Judiciary Act of 2021, which would add four seats to the U.S. Supreme Court for a total of 13 seats.
The legislation was passed months after former President Donald Trump appointed Justice Amy Coney Barrett to the high court to fill the seat vacated by the death of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Barrett’s appointment gave conservatives a “super majority” on the U.S. Supreme Court.
Sheindlin said the biggest flaw in the country’s justice system isn’t a Supreme Court issue, but involves the speed at which cases are resolved. She also applauded the swift verdict in the Derek Chauvin murder trial, which came to a close last month.
“The media wasn’t going to allow any delay, and rightfully so,” Sheindlin told the Reporter. “The country wanted a resolution.”
Sheindlin confessed she also likes ”to see things tied up in a bow. Perhaps that’s the reason for ending the show after 25 years.”
Though she’s ending the show, she told the Reporter she’ll continue to do television, and is hard at work on “Judy Justice” for IMDb TV.
The “Judge Judy” star taped the final episodes in April, according to the Reporter.
