The Ministerial Council of the Caribbean
Regional Fisheries Mechanism usually meets
twice annually. At their regular session for this
year, the CARICOM Ministers responsible for
fisheries, aquaculture, and the blue economy
passed several resolutions, including resolutions
that provide direction and guidance for the
CRFM’s actions on sector priorities. These sector priorities include:
Strategically Positioning Small-Scale
Fisheries and Aquaculture within the Blue
Economy Landscape of the Caribbean Region;
Climate Resilience in the Fisheries Sector of CRFM Member States;
World Trade Organization (WTO) Fisheries Subsidies Negotiations;
Illegal, Unreported And Unregulated (IUU) Fishing and Other Fisheries Crimes; and

Addressing the Constraints of Fisheries and Aquaculture as Priority Commodities to
Achieving CARICOM’s Vision 25 by 20
