The Ministry of Planning, Agriculture, Housing, Infrastructure, Transport & Development wishes to inform the public that Kaibo Public Beach Park will be temporarily closed to the public effective Monday, September 9, 2024. This necessary but temporary closure is to ensure public safety while essential beach replenishment works and critical infrastructural improvements are carried out.

Please note that the boat launch ramp will remain open during the closure, and its use will not be affected by the ongoing works.

The initial phase of works, which will commence next week, includes site preparation activities, ensuring a safe and secure environment while improvements are made. These preliminary works will not yet include the full reconstruction or coastal enhancement phase but will focus on setting the groundwork for future upgrades. The works include:

  1.  Establishing a security fence to prevent public access to the site during the works for public safety.
  2.  Demolition of the wooden cabanas and other wooden structures, including the vendor stall.
  3.  Base fill work for the internal road within the park, raising its overall height by several inches.
  4.  Chip and spraying of the park’s internal road.

During this period, all amenities at the park will be unavailable, including the cabanas and bathroom facilities, with the exception of the launch ramp, which will remain operational.
Once completed, Kaibo Public Beach Park will feature:

  *   New cabanas
  *   A restored and replenished coastline
  *   Refurbished or new bathroom facilities
  *   Groins to prevent future beach erosion
  *   Improved parking facilities for visitors

Minister Jay Ebanks emphasized the importance of the project and reassured the public, stating, ” The upgrades to Kaibo Public Beach Park will transform this beloved space into a more functional and enjoyable destination for all residents and visitors. While temporary closures may be inconvenient, the long-term benefits of a restored coastline, modernised amenities, and enhanced infrastructure will make the park even better than before. We are excited for the community to enjoy these new facilities soon.”
The Ministry is committed to ensuring these improvements enhance the park’s functionality and enjoyment for all. A timeline for the completion of the works, including the reconstruction phase, will be shared with the public as soon as further details are available.
