Kia Announces October 2021 Global Sales Results
- October global sales at 217,872 units, down 18.9% y/y
- Sales in Korea recorded 37,837 units, down 21.2% y/y
- Sales outside of Korea recorded 180,035 units, down 18.4% y/y
- Kia to create sales momentum through competitive new models including the EV6 battery electric vehicle and all-new Sportage
Kia Corporation recorded total global sales of 217,872 units in October 2021, a 18.9 percent decrease year over year.
The decrease mainly resulted from the supply disruption caused by the semiconductor supply shortage around the globe.
Korea sales
Kia recorded sales of 37,837 units in Korea, a 21.2 percent decrease from October 2020.
SUV models led the company’s sales in its home market. The Sorento SUV recorded the highest sales volume with 5,363 units sold and was followed by the all new Sportage which recorded 4,258 units. EV6 dedicated BEV model continued to show robust sales with the record of 2,762 units.
Sales outside of Korea
Sales outside of Korea decreased 18.4 percent compared to the same month last year with 180,035 units sold.
In markets outside of Korea, Sportage led the sales momentum with a record of 25,916 units sold. The record was followed by Seltos which sold 25,039 units then K3 which sold 15,101 units.
Going forward, Kia will continue to flexibly adjust its production in line with inventory status and to minimize production disruption.
Kia will also continue to focus on creating positive sales momentum and enhancing profitability through new models, such as the EV6 battery electric vehicle and all-new Sportage SUV.
