Kids stand up to bullies
After discussing the topic, the 12 students wrote and produced several public service announcements (PSAs) that will be used to educate peers on how they should respond to bullying.
The intensive process entailed a CITN/Cayman27 reporter instructing them on basics and a private producer sharing tips on filming and editing. The final PSAs will be used in local schools.
The teens also promoted their work during appearances on CITN’s Parenting Plus show, and on Z99 and Radio Cayman.
This specialized camp helps teens to build empathy for those affected by social issues. As part of the WRC’s Stood-Up campaign, the Cyber Bullying film was screened earlier this year. The summer camp activities allowed teens to interact with the themes of that film.
