Killa won’t retire just yet

Charles the “Killa” Whittaker still has his sights set on becoming a world champion boxer and won’t retire just yet.

On Saturday (26) Whittaker returns to the ring at King’s Sports Centre to take on Juan Matias from the Dominican Republic. The fight is scheduled for eight rounds.

After having two recent losses, one was shown live on television, Whittaker must win to keep his dream alive.

However, at 39 years of age and now no government allowance, the Killa is facing an even harder battle. He feels the decision to discontinue his monthly cheque was “purely a political move, [and] not a sporting decision.”

The veteran boxer has a new trainer –  John Scully, a former two-time world title challenger.

We wish Charles the very best and hope he still has that Killa punch.

Undefeated light heavyweight Caymanian boxer, Peter “Lightning” Lewison faces Mike “Money” Sawyer from Orlando in the co-main event scheduled for six rounds.

The other fight features talented Caymanian Dariel Ebanks who makes his pro debut against Elvis Martinez of the Dominican Republic in a four round super-middleweight bout.

The public is invited to attend the weigh-in on Friday and meet the fighters for photos and autographs at the Sunshine Suites on Seven Mile beach from 6 p.m.
