The “Rock Hole Fire Ants” basketball team has been formed through the support of KRYS Global and the National Council of Voluntary Organisations (NCVO) with a mission to raise awareness about child abuse and neglect.

The Division B team’s captain, Caymanian artist Gordon Solomon, designed a one- of-a-kind basketball team uniform with ants as their icon and “Report Child Abuse” as the caption.

Solomon, a former player of the Cayman Islands National team (1994-1998), joined forces with Leroy Stuart, Jason Mckenzie, and Maxwell Linwood, in putting together this team that carries the strong message.

The team has also made a commitment to help train some of the children with an interest in basketball at the NCVO’s Nadine Andreas Foster Home. Gordon Solomon stated “working with these youths helps to draw awareness to the issue of abuse. Hopefully I can inspire them to be good citizens”
