Latin American and the Caribbean (LAC) Yankee debt capital market (DCM) issuance has broken the US$100bn mark for the first time on record, financial research firm Dealogic said in a report.

Yankee DCM volume in the region has hit US$100bn through 14 deals year-to-date (YTD), already surpassing the previous full year high set in 2012 of US$99.9bn via 152 deals.

Brazil leads Latin America with 35% of the region’s Yankee issuance in 2013 YTD, although down from 45% during full year 2012. Mexico and Colombia follow with 25% and 10% so far in 2013, leading the region with two and three percentage point increases year-on-year, respectively.

Latin American issuers account for 12% of Yankee DCM volume in 2013 YTD, slightly down from the full year record set in 2012 of 13%, Dealogic said.

Overall, Latin American DCM issuance stands at US$158bn so far in 2013 YTD, slightly behind the US$160bn YTD record set last year.

Citi (NYSE: C) leads the 2013 LAC Yankee DCM bookrunner ranking with a 12.4% market share, followed by Bank of America Merrill Lynch (NYSE: BAC) with 12.0% and JPMorgan (NYSE: JPM) with 11.5%.
