Lions Club of Grand Cayman grows
At the installation ceremony held at Guy Harvey’s Restaurant and Bar, incoming Lions President Ewan Jacques accepted the position stating: “I am humbled by the opportunity of being responsible for this Club which, for the past forty two years, has strongly rendered service to our community. I am cognisant of the various challenges we will have to face and those that are yet known. However, I am confident that with the shared effort of this club, there is no challenge we cannot overcome collectively.”
“We have faced many obstacles in the past as a club yet we overcame these together. Fellow Lions, I am grateful for the faith you have demonstrated and proclaim to use the authority vested in me in the best interest of this club and our community at large.”
Highlighted at this ceremony was the work of Immediate Past President Lion Rayle Roberts and his board for leading the club over the past Lionistic Year. Several projects were highlighted such as PACCE, various Sight Screenings, Spelling Bee, Swim Meets, All-Island Christmas Party, serving through various Christmas parties and events, Lions Community Centre restoration, inaugural Youth Choir Competition, support of local organisations and events such as Big Brothers Big Sisters and Movember, along with a host of other projects throughout the local community. Lion President Ewan Jacques vowed to continue the work of the previous administration to allow for continuity and ensure strength and success of the club.
Also noted was tremendous growth in the 2014-2015 Lionistic year, including the induction of seven (7) new members into the club on June 4, 2015. Immediate Past Membership Director Anthony Ritch comments: “We believe this is a record for our Club in terms of the number of people inducted in one ceremony and we are really proud of these new members. We are delighted with the passion, the energy and creativity these new members bring to the Club, but most importantly, we thank them for their dedication to serve and help us meet the many needs in our communities.”
Present at the installation ceremony were Honourable Premier, Alden McLaughlin, several club presidents from other service organisations in the local community, a host of Lions from the Lions Club of Grand Cayman and the Lions Club of Tropical Gardens, along with family and friends.
