Songstress Lisa Carlisle is back on Cayman shores today.

The Welsh opera singer performs at Camana Bay on 8th October at a special concert as part of the Voices for Hospices series – a simultaneous event around the globe on World Hospice and Palliative Care Day.

She will be joined onstage by soloist Isabella Rooney, Butterfield’s Young Musician of the Year.

During her stay in Cayman, she will also help out with musical workshops.

International opera star to sing at charity concert

International opera singer Lisa Carlisle arrives in the Cayman Islands this week, ready to begin rehearsing for “One Voice…Many Voices,” a special concert in the series, “Voices for Hospices.”

The concert will take place on 8 October at the Arts and Recreation Centre, Camana Bay, and will start at 7pm.

Voices for Hospices is a wave of simultaneous concerts around the globe which takes place on World Hospice and Palliative Care Day every two years. The objective is to raise funds and awareness for hospice and palliative care, in each region, as well as around the world.

Ms Carlisle will be joined by soloist Isabella Rooney, Butterfield’s Young Musician of the Year, in an evening of musical entertainment for the whole family, featuring the Cayman National Orchestra and the Cayman National Choir.

“We will be performing a range of music which is in keeping with the theme of One Voice, Many Voices such as Barry Manilow’s “One Voice,” and “The Gift of Music” by John Rutter, along with opera, classical, crossover, music theatre and cabaret,” Ms Carlisle said.

“The evening will include orchestral pieces such as a James Bond medley, ensemble numbers with solos and choir (like the Joni Mitchell song) “Both Sides Now…it will be an evening of uplifting music,” she added.

Ms Carlisle will also be helping with some musical workshops during her stay.

She added: “I believe that Voices for Hospices is a wonderful cause. Within my own family I have first-hand experience at how the care, support and expertise of a hospice can have a positive impact on not just the patient, but the whole family. I am honoured to be part of a fundraising event for this cause.

“Where words fail, music speaks, and I think a concert encompassing a broad range of music with something for everyone, along with the community, is a perfect way to raise funds for a worthy cause, with the potential to positively impact many.”
