Local Cayman Islands dive operator honoured at Beneath the Sea show
Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands, 13 April, 2015 – Dive hotelier and enthusiast Keith Sahm, General Manager of the award winning Sunset House hotel and Sunset Divers, has been recognized with a prestigious award at the 2015 Beneath the Sea show. Mr. Sahm was named Diver of the Year – Service during the largest scuba and dive travel show in North America, which took place in Secaucus, New Jersey, 27 – 29 March 2015.
Keith Sahm started at Sunset House in 1996. During his tenure with the popular resort, he has spent time in the United States as the resort’s USA Marketing and Sales Manager. He returned permanently to Grand Cayman where he is the Co-General Manager of the resort. Mr. Sahm continues focusing on the marketing, PR and advertising functions, as well as overseeing the property operations. He is a former Director on the Board of the Diving Equipment and Marketing Association (DEMA), and he also serves on the Dive Marketing Committee of the Cayman Islands Tourism Association (CITA).
Minister of Tourism, the Hon Moses Kirkconnell shared, “Mr. Sahm is an integral part of planning for the month long Legends and Lions diving event in the Cayman Islands and consistently speaks on behalf of the Scuba Diving organizations about matters affecting the sport throughout the Cayman Islands. We are pleased that such an organization like Beneath the Sea has recognized one of our own for this noteworthy award.”
Beneath the Sea recognized Mr. Sahm for his role in underpinning the promotion of scuba recreation, training, and safety. Director of Tourism, Mrs. Rosa Harris, shared; “Mr. Sahm embodies the commitment and passion for the sport of scuba diving that enables the Cayman Islands to be innovative leaders in the industry. He is a distinguished representative of the Cayman Islands at all times and a person of integrity which we can count on for technical advice on the sport of Scuba Diving. The Department of Tourism congratulates Keith on this award, and look forward to continuing our longstanding partnership with him and Sunset House.”
Since its inception the Beneath the Sea Diver of the Year award program has honored men and women whose presence in the Dive Industry has made significant and lasting contributions to the past, present, and future of diving.
