THE COCKTAIL RECEPTION

The 2016 Loro Piana Caribbean Superyacht Regatta & Rendezvous brought together the owners and guests of some of the world’s greatest sailing and motor yachts for three days of thrilling racing and a brilliant social programme. Following some dramatic action during the Loro Piana Race Day, the Owner’s Dinner gave guests a chance to catch up and discuss the day’s sailing at the regatta’s most glittering event.

The evening began with a cocktail reception at the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda Virgin Gorda. Guests gathered on the outdoor terrace to enjoy champagne and take in the stunning views over the marina.

THE DINNER

After the cocktail reception, guests then headed down to the lawn at the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda Virgin Gorda for dinner. With an spacious marquee to shelter guests from the Caribbean breeze, the beautiful space was the perfect setting the evening’s elegant dinner.

Former owner of 50 metre Fitzroy sailing superyacht ZefiraPaola Trifiro attends the Loro Piana Owner’s Dinner. Trifiro is currently building a new Vitters sailing yacht which she spoke about during the Superyacht Design Symposium 2016.

Highlights from 2016 Westport Rendezvous

The inaugural Wesport Rendezvous took place during the 2016 Loro Piana Caribbean Superyacht Regatta & Rendezvous, held in the BVIs in March. Motor yacht owners were invited to join the regatta programme and enjoy the spectacle of superyacht racing alongside a fun and fully packed social programme.

The programme for the Westport Rendezvous saw the superyacht owners join the sailing superyacht owners for events such as the Welcome Cocktail & BBQ at YCCS Virgin Gorda on the opening night, the Loro Piana Owner’s Dinner and the Oil Nut Bay Fire & Ice Beach Party.

On Loro Piana Race Day 1 the motor yachts were invited to watch the regatta. On the second day, the Westport Rendezvous guests were invited to a cruise in company and the Westport Lunch, in association with BVI Tourist Board and Scrub Island Resort & Spa.

For the third race day, a scavenger hunt was thrown for the Westport Rendezvous, with teams competing in tenders to find clues that led them to lunch at Oil Nut Bay Resort, where winners were awarded prizes for the most points collected and best sand sculpture sea monster..

“It’s been fantastic,” said Ron Nugent, Director of Marketing at Westport. “We only had positive input from all the owners. All in all, it was a great event.”

A total of eight superyachts joined the Westport Rendezvous.
