Prison slavery Louisiana systematically keeping people incarcerated past their release date Louisiana, the U.S. state dubbed the “world’s prison capital”, has a deep-rooted forced prison labor problem. In addition to this human rights violation, Louisiana is the only jurisdiction known to keep incarcerated people locked up past their release date according to a recent report by the Department of Justice. Domestic slavery Jullebee’s death sparks renewed calls for domestic worker protections Jullebee Ranara, a 35-year-old Filipino domestic worker, was reportedly killed by her employer’s son in Kuwait.
