Scottish dance, theatre, & music artists invited to apply for funding to present work at Edinburgh Festival Fringe

Applications open today for the opportunity to be part of Made in Scotland 2015 – an annual curated showcase of music, theatre and dance taking place as part of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

Made in Scotland celebrates the wealth and diversity of work being produced in Scotland, and through being presented at the world’s largest arts festival provides a range of artists and companies working in this country with invaluable international profile.

116 shows have been supported at the Fringe thanks to the programme since it first took place in 2009 from the likes of David Leddy, Scottish Dance Theatre, Traverse Theatre, Caroline Bowditch and Barrowland Ballet.

Dance, theatre, and music artists & companies based in Scotland can apply to the Music and Theatre & Dance programmes before 5pm on Monday 24 November 2014.

Made in Scotland also supports work created in Scotland which has been staged at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe to tour internationally through the Onward International Touring Fund.

Since 2009, this funding has made possible tours across five continents, visiting over 15 countries, including Germany, USA, Australia, New Zealand, France, Ireland, Canada, Japan, China, Denmark, The Netherlands and more.

This opportunity is open to companies and artists who have been part of Made in Scotland and those who have not, and applications can be made at any time.

Creative Scotland and the Festival Fringe Society will be running Information Sessions for potential applicants on the following dates:

Wednesday 15 October 2014 in Edinburgh

Thursday 16 October 2014 in Glasgow

The Made in Scotland programme is made possible through a partnership between Creative Scotland, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society, the Federation of Scottish Theatre and the Scottish Music Centre. It is supported through the Scottish Government’s Edinburgh Festivals Expo Fund.

The Made in Scotland Showcase:

supports Scottish dance, theatre and music companies/ artists to present their best work on an international stage;

raises the profile of the work of Scottish dance, theatre and music companies/artists and offers them unique networking opportunities with promoters;

increases the number and diversity of international promoters coming to see Scottish work at the Fringe through a year-round promoter development programme;

nurtures and encourages international creative dialogue and the development of international collaborations by Scottish dance, theatre and music companies/artists;

supports international touring opportunities for all Scottish dance, theatre and music companies/ artists performing at the Fringe;

offers a year-round programme of training, support and advice to companies/artists so they can maximise the impact of their appearance in the showcase.

The total amount available for the Made in Scotland 2015 Music programme will be in the region of £75,000. The total amount available for Made in Scotland Theatre and Dance 2015 will be in the region of £220,000. Other than the limitation of the available budget for the year, there is no minimum or maximum level of grant for which you can apply. The total amount available for the Onward International Touring Fund will be in the region of £110,000.

MADE IN SCOTLAND is supported by the Scottish Governments Edinburgh Festivals Expo Fund. Edinburgh Festivals Expo Fund has provided £12 million from 2008/09 to 2013/14, supporting the costs of new productions, events or exhibitions which involve Scottish-based participants and are premiered at any of the 12 Edinburgh Festivals.
