Male models accuse ‘Fashion Bible’ Photogs of sexual misconduct
Dozens of male models have come forward to accuse Vogue-anointed fashion photographers, Mario Testino and Bruce Weber, of sexual misconduct.
Testino and Weber have been accused of sexual exploitation by a litany of models and some former assistants. Sixty-three-year-old Testino faces 13 claims of making sexual advances, including groping subjects during photo shoots and masturbating in front of them.
“Sexual harassment was a constant reality,” a former assistant to Testino said.
While 71-year-old Weber is up against 15 accusations of sexually coercive behavior and unnecessary subjectivity to nudity during shoots. Model Jason Boyce said Weber encouraged him, during a shoot, to grope himself as well as suck the photographer’s fingers.
“I remember him putting his fingers in my mouth, and him grabbing my privates,” model, Robyn Sinclair, recounted to The Times. “We never had sex or anything, but a lot of things happened. A lot of touching. A lot of molestation.” Models Bobby Roache and Josh Ardolf made similar claims.
Weber is known for helming provocative Abercrombie & Fitch and Calvin Klein shoots.
Testino shot the cover for Vogue’s February 2018 issue, which featured 23-time tennis grand slam winner Serena Williams and her daughter Alexis Ohanian Jr.
The “fashion bible” dropped the gauntlet on both shutterbugs following Saturday’s explosive New York Times report. Vogue’s Creative Director, Anna Wintour, said the publication would not be working with duo anytime soon
“I believe strongly in the value of remorse and forgiveness, but I take the allegations very seriously,” Wintour said in the statement, “and we at Condé Nast have decided to put our working relationship with both photographers on hold for the foreseeable future.”
Testino and Weber have denied the allegations.
“I’m completely shocked and saddened by the outrageous claims being made against me, which I absolutely deny,” Weber’s rep told the newspaper.
Testino’s lawyers said former employees, who were contacted, were “shocked by the allegations.”
The domino effect was triggered by a mountain of sexual misconduct accusations laid against powerful men in Hollywood, corporate America and various other industries.
