Male voice choir’s Christmas Is…

The Cayman Male Voice Choir

Cayman Islands Male Voice Choir presented their Christmas Cantata, “Christmas Is…” at Elmslie Memorial Church in George Town The choir, directed by Ernest Bodden and accompanied by Marjane Ebanks-Fellows on the piano, introduced the evening’s performance by traditional carols such as O Come Emmanuel, as Angels from the Realms of Glory, and Good Christian Men Rejoice.

As an added treat, Mr McDorn Frederick performed Star of Wonder on the harmonica, as the offering was taken up.

The programme began by telling of the gift of love, in the form of God’s own Son by using scriptures taken from both the Old and New Testament.

The first scripture, a prophesy of the coming messiah, was taken from the book of Isaiah: “Out of you will come one whose origins are from old, from ancient times.”

Following the choir’s first song of the presentation, “the Gift of Christ is Peace,” the narrator spoke on the theme of love, personified by Jesus Christ.

The Choir celebrated the Messiah’s birth in Bethlehem with the song ‘The Birth of a King’:

“In the little village of Bethlehem,
There lay a Child one day;
And the sky was bright with a holy light
O’er the place where Jesus lay.”
The next scripture reading was also from the book of Isaiah: “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

The cantata finished with Beautiful Star of Bethlehem, sung by the choir and congregation, before the Benediction.
