Man arrested after stabbing
A man has been arrested and is detained in police custody following a robbery and stabbing in West Bay.
About 7.10pm tonight a 30-year-old man was attacked by two men and had his rental car, a white Hyundai Atos, stolen. The incident occurred in the vicinity of the Ed Bush stadium.
A spokeswoman for the RCIPS said: “The man was stabbed in the chest and shoulder during the attack. He also received a cut to his face after being struck with what is believed to have been a firearm. The victim ran off and was shot at by his attackers. The shots did not hit the man.
“He was conveyed to the Cayman Islands Hospital, George Town, where he is being treated His injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
“Police attended and carried out a search of the area. The search led to the recovery of the vehicle a short distance away and the arrest of a 40-year-old man. He was arrested on suspicion of robbery and remains in police custody while enquiries are ongoing.
“Police are looking for a second man in connection with the incident.This incident is not thought to be connected to the robbery at Dolphin Discovery.”
