Man Arrested for threats to kill and other offenses following incident at Public Beach

Shortly before 1:30PM on Wednesday, 20 September, officers responded to a report of an incident at the Seven Mile Public Beach on West Bay Road. It was reported that a man had brandished a knife at another man and made threats against him. Officers attended the location and approached the suspect, requesting a search to determine the allegation of a weapon being on his person. The man refused the search and became aggressive towards the officers. A brief struggle ensued and the man was detained by the officers and arrested for disorderly conduct. No knife was found on his person.
The man was taken to the CI Detention Centre where he continued to behave in an aggressive manner and made threats against the officers. A further search of his person was subsequently conducted and a quantity of ganja was recovered, he however refused to submit to a drug test.
As a result, the man, age 23 of George Town, was further arrested for disorderly conduct at a police station, making threats to kill, possession of ganja and failing to provide a specimen.
The man has since been granted bail pending further investigation.
