A man has been arrested in connection with an attempted armed robbery as he tried to flee the country.

Police swooped at Owen Roberts International Airport on Tuesday morning.

A RCIPS spokeswoman said: “A 40-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident. The arrest took place at Owen Roberts International Airport on Tuesday morning as the man was attempting to leave the country.

“He has been arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery and remains in police custody while enquiries are ongoing.”
