Man charged with Breach of Curfew, Assaulting Police and several other offenses
From RCIPS
Shortly after 4:00PM on Thursday, 16 April, officers on patrol in George Town were dispatched to a report of a person riding an illegal motorbike recklessly in the Crewe Road area, who had failed to stop when instructed to do so by officers. The rider was then observed entering a property on Prospect Drive and officers were directed to the location. The officers spoke to a male there, who they determined to be the rider of the motorbike, which was also at the location.
When the officers attempted to arrest the man he resisted and attempted to flee, physically assaulting an officer. The man continued to resist and be verbally abusive towards the officers as they detained him. He proceeded to make threats and spit in the face of an officer, making claims about being “infected.”
The man, age 21 of George Town, was arrested and has subsequently been charged with Driving Without Insurance, Driving Without Being Qualified, Use of an Unregistered Vehicle, Intentional Harassment, Alarm or Distress, Resisting Arrest, Breach of Curfew, and two counts of Assaulting a Police Officer. He appeared in court Monday morning, 20 April, and has been remanded in custody pending a further appearance on 30 April.
