Manderson says he has no knowledge of Civil Service salary cuts
“I have been approached by numerous persons who are reporting rumours of a pending salary cut being proposed for the Civil Service.
“As the Deputy Governor and the member of Cabinet who would be responsible for bringing such a Paper, I wish to advise that I have no knowledge of any proposal to this effect. I have spoken to my Cabinet colleagues and can confirm that no Member of Cabinet is aware of such a proposal.
“HR costs across Government are being closely monitored by the Portfolio of the Civil Service and the recently appointed Budget Review Committee. We continue to post significant savings in our HR costs across core government.
“While we cannot and will not be complacent in achieving necessary budgetary savings, I wish to reiterate that I have no knowledge of any proposal which suggests that the Civil Service receive a salary cut.
