Maples and Calder recently donated its winnings from the Cayman Islands Golf Invitational, totalling CI$1,700, to local charity Feed Our Future.  The team placed second in the tournament, which took place from 13-14 December 2013 at the North Sound Golf Club.

The event, which is put on annually by local organisers, attracted several well-known firms to register teams, in addition to some of the world’s best PGA tour players, including Brian Davis, Peter Hanson and Rich Beem.

“Maples and Calder is a long-time supporter of this tournament and we are delighted with our prize.  Of course, we will practise our swings for next year’s first place position,” said Paul Lumsden, Managing Partner of Maples and Calder’s Cayman Islands office.  “Our decision to donate all proceeds was immediate and the selection of the recipient was unanimous.  The statistics provided by Feed Our Future on childhood hunger in our community are concerning.  However, we hope that with the assistance of contributions such as this, the organisation will be one step closer to achieving the goal of a hunger-free Cayman Islands.”

Feed our Future is a not for profit association whose primary mission is to solve childhood hunger and to support intellectual nourishment in the Cayman Islands through the funding of nutritionally balanced low cost or free school meals to children in need in public and private schools thereby serving a dual purpose of enriching the learning potential and health of the child and reducing the burden on the community that supports them.  Feed our Future was established in mid-2011.
