Marine Search and Rescue/Pedestrian hit in GT

At 10:05 am today Thursday 29 November 2012  the RCIPS Marine Support Unit received a report from the Jamaican Coast Guard which stated that a vessel informed them by radio that there is a blue canoe drifting 60 Km SE of Cayman Brac with three souls onboard; last known location was 19 13.13N and 079 16.44W.

The RCIPS and the JDF Coast Guard coordinated the search of the area with up to five commercial vessels in the area assisting. The RCIPS helicopter Xray 1 responded and carried out an extensive search of the area. It was determined that the vessel which reported the matter assisted the boat in distress, and it might have continued on its journey. The canoe was not located and the RCIPS called off the search at 3:54 pm this afternoon.

Pedestrian hit outside GAB
On Tuesday (27) at around 4:30pm a woman was struck by a vehicle outside of the government administration building on Elgin Avenue
in George Town.
The RCIPS, who are investigating the incident, said a vehicle driving out of the government car park hit a pedestrian who was taken to the hospital complaining of back injuries. She was released from the hospital later
the same day.
