Minister Anglin goes to court

Cayman Islands Minister of Education, Training and Employment, Rolston Malachi Anglin appeared in Traffic Court on Monday (17) morning charged with careless driving and driving under the influence of alcohol.

The charges against him allege he drove without due care and attention on 23 May, 2012, in the vicinity of The Avalon Condos on West Bay Road in Grand Cayman. It is further alleged that on the same occasion the proportion of alcohol in his breath exceeded the legal limit of .100, to wit, .110.

Attorney Steve McField represented the Minister. Mr. McField asked for another mention date because he had received the bundle of papers only on Friday. He told Chief Magistrate Nova Hall that he needed to peruse the papers “in order to decide where we are going to go”.

The matter was set for Monday, 1 October. The defendant’s bail was extended until that date.
