Minister Bodden gets Councillor
GRAND CAYMAN, Cayman Islands – Councillor Alva Suckoo has been appointed to Minister Hon. Osbourne Bodden to help in the areas of Sports, Youth and Culture in the Ministry of Health, Sports, Youth and Culture.
“I’m very happy to have him share with the workload,” said Minister Bodden. “He shares some of my passions in those areas and he’s already been helping. He’s a very able and committed representative and he will add much to the good services we already provide in these areas.”
As a Councillor, Mr. Suckoo will attend meetings and events for the Minister.
The appointment was made official Friday, 24 January, 2014, and announced in Cabinet today.
He remains Councillor for Computer Services and eGovernment in the Premier’s Ministry of Home and Community Affairs.
Also in Cabinet, all new Ministers were sworn in as Justices of the Peace.
Justices of the Peace are used as signatories to official documents including warrants, land registrations and marriage certificates. They are appointed by the Cayman Islands Governor.
The Ministers have been undergoing Justice of the Peace training.
