The Ministry of Tourism and Development is pleased to welcome Gavin B. Dixon, LL.B, to the Liquor Licensing Unit as its Inspector of Licensed Premises.

He was previously employed as an Enforcement Officer with the Immigration Department for 9 plus years. Gavin graduated from the Cayman Islands Law School (now known as The Truman Bodden Law School), earning honours in the LLB and PPC courses. Gavin says he is looking forward to the new challenge. Gavin states, “I enjoyed my time at the Immigration Department, but now that I have successfully completed my legal studies, I am very excited to move my career in a different direction. I am energized about the many opportunities for growth and personal development that my new role as Inspector in the Liquor Licensing Department offers.”

Chief Officer in the Ministry of Tourism & Development, Stran Bodden says he too is pleased to have Gavin on board, “This is a very important role to fill and we are confident that Gavin will perform admirably.”

The mandate of the Inspector of Licensed Premises is to set up and carry out a programme of inspections of licensed premises on a regular basis to ensure that all premises are operating within the confines of the Liquor Licensing Law (2000 Revision).

Included in the duties are the routine inspections, throughout the year, of all licensed premises in the Cayman Islands; to receive and investigate complaints from members of the public and licence holders; and log and report findings of the complaints to the Liquor Licensing Board and the Ministry of Tourism and Development.
