Missing vessel update
The Joint Marine Unit vessel, Cayman Guardian has towed the King Bal One back to harbour. All occupants of the fishing vessel appear to be safe and well.
The towing operation took several hours and both vessels arrived in George Town harbour in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The boat which was reported missing Friday morning, has been traced by the RCIPS Air Operations Unit approximately 60 miles south west of Grand Cayman.
About 10.35 am Friday morning the Joint Marine Unit received a report that the fishing vessel King Bal One had apparently run out of fuel Thursday afternoon while returning to Grand Cayman from Table Top Bank. The vessel also appeared to have lost battery power. The last know position of the King Bal One was approximately 34 miles south west of Grand Cayman.
On receipt of the report the police helicopter was deployed and began searching for the vessel.
About 1.30 pm Friday, the crew of the police helicopter spotted the King Bal One approximately 60 miles south west of Grand Cayman. The Joint Marine Unit vessel , Cayman Guardian, is currently en route to the location to render assistance.
