Morty Valldejuli has been promoted Vice President Managing Director at Westin Grand Cayman Seven Mile Beach Resort & Spa, Cayman Islands
Following four years of success as General Manager/Area Managing Director, Valldejuli has been promoted to Vice President Managing Director of Westin Grand Cayman Seven Mile Beach Resort & Spa. In his new role, Valldejuli has oversight of other branded properties in the southern/Florida region of Pyramid Hotel Group, Manager of Westin Grand Cayman. Valldejuli will also manage the upcoming two-phase floor-to-ceiling redesign of the Westin Grand Cayman’s lobby, public spaces, guestrooms and recreation areas. He also oversees the property’s neighboring property, Sunshine Suites Resort. A visionary leader with more than a quarter-century of experience at highly rated hotel and resort properties in the Gulf States and the Caribbean, Valldejuli originally joined Westin Grand Cayman in 2012 to oversee the completion of a multi-million-dollar renovation. He led the successful re-launch of the resort the following year, resulting in national acclaim for the renovation and the success of new and improved programs, including the pool and beach experience. Valldejuli was also intricately involved in the rejuvenation of the resort’s dining operations, conceptualizing all four food and beverage outlets, including the rebranding of the four-star Beach House Restaurant. The resort was honored with a Best Food Award at the 2015 Cayman Taste Food Festival.
Under his supervision, the resort also received the prestigious SPG Award 2013 for Best Beach Resort, as well as AAA Four Diamond Awards in 2014 and 2015. In addition, Valldejuli has served as team leader in several hotel acquisitions and transitions for Pyramid Resort Group. He also served on the board of the Cayman Island Tourism Association and currently serves on the of the group’s Accommodations Division. Valldejuli arrived in the picturesque Cayman Islands following two years as Area Managing Director and General Manager for Pyramid Hotel Group properties in the Greater New Orleans Area. Among his assignments were Maison Dupuy Hotel and Marriott Hotel Lakeway. During his tenure, Marriott Hotel Lakeway was honored with an AAA Four Diamond Award in 2011, while Maison Dupuy Hotel was voted “2011 Best Boutique Hotel in New Orleans” by National Geographic Traveler,and won “Best 2011 Urban Escape in New Orleans” from Fodor’s Choice Golf Award. Born in New Jersey and raised between San Juan, Puerto Rico, and Los Angeles, Valldejuli pursued undergraduate studies in Marketing and Economics at the University of Sacred Heart in San Juan. He will continue to reside on Grand Cayman with his wife, Anastasia, and son, Aleksander. Valldejuli also has a teenage daughter, Kathryn.
