The funeral service for the late Bethany Butler will be held on Sunday 9th November 2014 at 1:00pm, Kings Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church, Walkers Road, George Town. However, the body can be viewed between 12 noon and 12:45pm.
Internment of the body will be the new Bodden Town Cemetery, on Bodden Town Road.
Mr. Butler (father) is aware that there are several persons (police/civil servants/students/wider public) who would like to attend, and has no problem with the funeral arrangements being made public.

The RCIPS are continuing with their investigation into the death of 6 year old Bethany Butler. Investigators would be interested in hearing from anyone that was possibly on Hirst Road, Shamrock Road, High Rock Road or Queens Highway between 3.00am and 4.00am on Monday 27th October 2014 and who may have seen a light coloured Hyundai Tucson SUV similar to the vehicle pictured above.
Although very early in the morning it is not uncommon for shift workers or other peoples to be out exercising on the road at this time.
This line of enquiry would assist the investigation piece together the last movements of this vehicle suspected of being driven by Tamara Butler.
Tamara Butler who was arrested on suspicion of the murder of Bethany, she remains under police guard at the Cayman Islands Hospital. Please contact the Major Incident Room at the George Town Police Station on 926 3975, any district police station, or Crime Stoppers on 949 8477 (TIPS).
Church service held in Cayman Islands for slain child and family

Members of the Seventh-day Adventist church in Bodden Town gathered Monday night to try and make sense of the tragic killing of a 6-year-old girl,just as police were trying to piece together what led to Bethany Butler’s death.
The death has hit the RoyalCayman Islands Police Service hard because the child’s father Lenford Butler is a sergeant on the local force.
“Our condolences go out to the family members of this young child and in par ticul ar her father,” said RCIPS Chief Inspector Malcolm Kay.
Pastor Shian O’Connor,who presided over the service,also spent a part of Monday with Mr.Butler following news of his daughter’s death.
“This is a real tragedy;it is not foreseeable,” Mr.O’Connor said. “We’ve heard of these things happening (outside Cayman) and in watching the television,but when it strikes home, it’s terrible. “It’s an extremely difficult time.It affects all of us. It sends shock waves through the Cayman Islands and beyond.”
Mr.Butler,who attended college in St. Vincent and who served for a while on the Turks and Caicos Islands police force, could not be reached for comment Monday. However, he had posted a picture on his Facebook page of Bethany accepting an award at Savannah Primary School. Friends and family passed along condolences.

Murder Update of child

This morning Friday 31st October 2014 a post mortem examination was conducted on six year old Bethany Gabriel Butler whose body was found by police in the early hours of Monday morning just off Queens Highway.
The Pathologists preliminary report has cited sharp forced trauma as the cause of death or in other words multiple stab wounds.
Bethany’s mother, Tamara Olita Butler who was arrested on suspicion of her murder shortly after the discovery of Bethany’s body; was initially transported to the Cayman Islands Hospital where she was treated for a number of superficial cuts.
Mrs. Butler has remained under police guard at the hospital since then and has been admitted under the Mental Health Law while a period of observation is conducted to assess her condition and suitability for interview by the officers conducting this investigation.
The RCIPS is working very closely with the HSA and Mrs. Butlers family who have arrived on island.
The DPP has been consulted throughout this process and as yet – no charges have been laid.
FORMER TURKS AND CAICOS ISLANDS RESIDENT ARRESTED FOR SUSPECTED MURDER OF HER YOUNG DAUGHTER IN CAYMAN ISLANDS

A former resident of the Turks and Caicos Islands was arrested by Cayman Islands police Monday on suspicion of murdering her six-year-old daughter in that British Overseas Territory.
Tamara Butler, 37, the daughter of educator Mrs. Claudette Clare, reportedly stabbed her child and then apparently tried to commit suicide.
Adrian Seales, Superintendent of Police in the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service confirmed the child’s death and the arrest of the woman, but he did not release the names up to Press time because the next of kin was not yet notified.
However, the Cayman Compass newspaper reported the names of mother and child.
Seales told the SUN that at approximately 4:59am Monday 27th October 2014, a police patrol came across a parked SUV on the road side along an area in Cayman Islands called Queens’ Highway. Upon further investigation the Police Officers discovered the body of a 6-year-old girl inside the vehicle, he said.
He added: “A subsequent search of the area utilizing the RCIPS helicopter and other ground units found a 37 year old female resident not far from the parked vehicle. She was subsequently connected to the vehicle and was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody while the investigation continues. The RCIPS have commenced a murder inquiry and a major incident room has been opened at the George Town Police Station.”
Meantime, the Cayman Compass reported that the six-year-old girl (who also once lived in the Turks and Caicos Islands) suffered stab wounds and was pronounced dead at the location where the vehicle was found.

Murder Investigation
The RCIPS can now confirm that the 37 year old female arrested on suspicion of murder on Monday 27th October 2014 is the mother of the 6 year old girl found inside a vehicle along the Queens Highway earlier that morning. We are also able to confirm that the girl’s father is a serving officer with the RCIPS.
A post mortem is scheduled for later this week at which time the cause of death will be determined.
Detective Chief Inspector, Malcolm Kay stated. “This is a tragic incident and our condolences go out to the family members of this young child and in particular her father. We are in the very early stages of this murder investigation and as such we are putting together all the pieces in order to find out exactly what happened leading up to this untimely death. We would be very interested in speaking to anyone who may have been on the Queens Highway in the early hours of Monday morning and who may have seen a light colored SUV parked anywhere along the roadside.”
The accused remains in custody.

A subsequent search of the area utilizing the RCIPS helicopter and other ground units found a 37 year old female resident of Newlands not far from the parked vehicle. She was subsequently connected to the vehicle and was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody while the investigation continues. The RCIPS have commenced a murder inquiry and a major incident room has been opened at the George Town Police Station. Detectives are asking anyone with any information or who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in the early hours of the morning to call The George Town Police Station on 949 4222, The Major Incident Room on RCIPS tip-line 949-7777 or Crime Stoppers on 800 8477(TIPS).
UPDATE:
A 37 year old woman has been arrested today (Mon 27) in connection with the earlier report of the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS) of a child’s body being discovered at 5:43 am (see below) and they were investigating a ‘suspicious’ death.
The child, a girl, has been announced as being 6 years of age and she was discovered in a car parked on the Queen’s Highway.
The relationship of the arrested woman to the child has not been determined.
Police also confirmed their activity at a home in the Savannah Newlands area, this morning, was also connected to the murder investigation but would provide no further details than that.
We received an unconfirmed report the arrested woman’s husband was a police officer but the officer in charge, chief Superintendent Kurt Walton would not comment.
