NCVO raises over $140,000 from radio/telethon

Over $140,000 was raised in pledges at the Annual National Council of Voluntary Organisations (NCVO) Radio/telethon last Saturday (3) night held at the Prospect Playhouse, Red Bay.

The event was broadcast live on Radio Cayman and CITN-Cayman27 and lasted from 7pm until 12 midnight and included performances by the cream of Cayman’s musical talents.

Acts included Gone Country; Sea N’ B; Hi Tide; Barefoot Man; Andy Martin, The Allenger Family, Gordon Solomon; Mona Lisa Tatum, Suckerbox, Sue Horrocks and Kate Allenger, The Percussions and our very own Joan Wilson who not only read a poem about giving to the NCVO but told a joke about aging!

Janice Wilson, Chief/Director of the NCVO was thrilled with the night and especially the result that broke the record for the amount donated.

“Now we have the job of collecting it,” she said.
