Take a 3D Tour of Mount Everest With This App
From Mashable
A new app lets users explore Mount Everest in lifelike detail without ever having to leave the couch.
Called Mount Everest 3D, the iOS app shows the world’s highest mountain from “any perspective” in the form of a 3D map, according to its App Store description.
Created by German company 3D RealityMaps, the map is based on high-resolution images from WorldView satellites, and details common routes, base camps and weather stations. Users navigate Everest via touch gestures.
“In absolutely photorealistic quality, free and unrestricted navigation through the mountain region is possible with this unique 3D app,” Mount Everest 3D’s official website says. [Go to: http://www.everest3d.de/index.php?id=680&L=1]
Now, wannabe adventurers can cross “climbing Mount Everest” off their bucket list without shelling out big bucks for airfare to Nepal.
