every step of the way

Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands (February 8th, 2016) – Even before they set foot in the Cayman Islands, new clients of Cayman Enterprise City (“CEC”) experience ‘Caymankind’ as they go through the process of setting up in the Special Economic Zone when they connect with four Caymanians who epitomize the term. ‘Caymankind’ is touted by the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism as the entire experience of Cayman culture; people, history, resources and traditions, combined with a sense that Caymanians can do more, be more and mean more.

Kayla Archibold, Felicia Bodden, Imelda Fagan and Swan Raudales are among the new hires at CEC, and their friendliness, local knowledge, expertise and pride in Cayman make them perfect ambassadors for the zone. As CEC Community Coordinators Swan Raudales and Imelda Fagan make sure clients who are relocating to Grand Cayman from around the world have what they need to settle into their new home. Kayla Archibold assists clients through their licensing process as a member of the Client Services team.

“I help clients with local insight and try to tell them all about the islands. I want them to know what Cayman is like even before they get here,” said Archibold. “One client going through the process asked me to recommend a charity and I suggested Cayman Hospice. She’s never been to Grand Cayman, but she wants to make a difference in our community!”

Felicia Bodden joined the CEC Accounts Department a few months ago when, as a student at ICCI she heard about job openings in the zone, and applied wanting to know more about Cayman Enterprise City. She interviewed with CEO Charlie Kirkconnell who told her all about the zone and offered her the job. As a college student pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with concentration in Accounting, Bodden jumped at the chance.

“I really like my job because this is a great hands-on opportunity to learn with guidance and supervisors – much better than what you can pick up reading a textbook,” she said. “Everyone is available to help and it’s a good environment for learning.”

The new employees are getting to learn about the different companies coming into the zone and they are being introduced to new fields such as technology, media and commodities trading. Bodden says one of the thrills she discovered about working at CEC came when she saw the commodities trading facilities in the zone.

“I have visited the floor of the stock exchange in New York City and seen live trading, and to walk into some of the offices in CEC was amazing. Commodity and derivatives product trading is being done in Cayman on exchanges around the world – it is happening here! It makes me feel very proud that CEC is100% Caymanian owned and led and that its locals who are bringing their vision to reality in creating the
zone.”

Felicia Bodden and Kayla Archibold were classmates at John Grey High School just a few years ago, and are Felicia is now also continuing her higher education. Both are excited about the possibilities presented by Cayman Enterprise City – not just for their future, but the future of young Caymanians generally.

“I can’t wait to see the new campus!” said Bodden.

“I feel a sense of pride and country spirit knowing that I’m helping to make a difference,” adds Archibold.

“In my last 25 years of living and working in 7 different countries, no international move was so well- organised and stress-free as my move to the Cayman Islands thanks to ladies at Cayman Enterprise City. This is a one stop solution to the business relocation at its finest. Well done!” stated Alexandre Kotcherguine, Founding Partner, of zone company Direct Capital Solutions SEZC.

Cayman Enterprise City will continue to provide opportunities for Caymanians as the zone grows and clients come from around the world to make a new home in the Cayman Islands. Home-grown employees who understand ‘Caymankind’ are the backbone of the zone and the face of the Cayman Islands.
