The Honourable Chief Justice is pleased to announce the appointment of and welcomes Mr. Kevin McCormac as Court Administrator.  Mr. McCormac, who was selected after an open recruitment process and careful consideration, will be responsible for the overall management and administration of the non-judicial operations of the Courts.  On the directions of the Honorable Chief Justice, he will lead, manage and guide the strategic development and implementation of efficient and cohesive processes.   As Court Administrator, Mr. McCormac,  will also serve as Chief Officer for the Judicial Administration under the Public Finance and Management Law and the Appointing Officer under the Public Service Management Law.

He joins the Judicial Administration with over 30 years experience in the management and development of courts and judicial systems in England and Wales. In 2001 he was made an Officer of the British Empire for services to the criminal justice system  and is the author of legal textbooks and has during his career edited law reports.

As Chief Executive to the West Sussex Magistrates’ Court Committee, he was responsible for leading the Judiciary and staff through a major period of change at a time of increasing budgetary constraints.

Mr. McCormac took early retirement from the United Kingdom Civil Service in October 2010, having served as Deputy Director in the Ministry of Justice.  Since his retirement he has undertaken the following roles:-

• Part time Judge of the First Tier Tribunal dealing with appeals from decisions on Employment Support Allowance and related Benefits,
•  General Editor, Wilkinson’s Road Traffic Offences;
• Editor, Archbold Magistrates’ Courts Criminal Practice
• Project Manager, managing a British Embassy funded project in Croatia, supporting staff and students at Zagreb University to establish a Legal clinic through which students provide free legal advice.
• Project Manager designate supporting the Judiciary in Egypt.
• University Tutor, teaching Criminal Law to undergraduates at Kaplan Law School in London.
• Project Consultancy, supporting the UK Ministry of Justice and Foreign  and Commonwealth Office on a variety of projects relating to the reform of justice systems and supporting work for the Governors of British Overseas Territories
• Appointed short-term expert to support the Judiciary in Jordan, in relation to reforms to its Judicial and Court Administration.

He is a Barrister, qualified at the Inns of Court School of Law and holds an MA in Jurisprudence from Oxford University in the U.K.  He is a member of the Bar Council, an Honorary member of the Justices’ Clerks’ Society and an Associate member of the Magistrates’ Association.

He is married to Maggie and they have two children and two grandchildren.
