The CTMH Doctors Hospital 3D Pain Free Mammograms recently got an upgrade that has been dubbed ‘Genius’ in the medical community! The new FDA approved ‘Hologic’s GeniusTM’ 3D software reduces the radiation exposure to patients by 50%. This state-of-the-art technology known as Breast tomosynthesis, is the most modern version of mammography available. It creates a 3D image of the breast by using the clearest image currently available and low dose x ray technology. We are quite excited about the new upgrades. As we have always explained to the community this is important, because the amount of radiation exposure to the patient is always something to keep to a minimum.  “The 3D images make detecting any cancers or abnormalities much easier due to the images being much more advanced than the regular 2D or flat images.” Explained Dr. Yaron Rado, Chief Radiologist & Chairman of the Board of the CTMH Doctors Hospital and Imaging. “Another advantage of the Pain Free system is none of the squeezing that is common and feared by women with traditional mammograms,” he furthers.

Hologic explained in their release about the new FDA approved technology that 40-50 percent of women ages 40 to 74 have dense breasts. Women with dense breasts often require additional imaging, which can result in increased patient anxiety. This can lead to repeated tests which cause unnecessary costs. More importantly, women with dense breasts are four to five times more likely to develop breast cancer.
