New Owners, New Know-How for Baraud

The Island’s longest-standing recruitment consultancy is now under new management. Established in 1992, Baraud has been providing recruitment and immigration services to the Cayman Islands for over twenty years but after two decades, new owners Stefan Cohen and Alan Brady are giving the agency a fresh look.

“When we bought the business earlier this year, we wanted to take it in a new direction with a focus on providing the best possible customer service”, said Alan Brady, Operations Manager at Baraud.

Paving the way for the new Baraud, Cohen and Brady have initiated a major overhaul of the business.

In addition to new methodology, structural changes, system upgrades and team expansion across all areas, they have also embarked on a full rebrand. “We’re bringing a progressive, communicative approach to the business and need our image to reflect that”, said Brady.

“We have excellent relationships within the community and know our clients and candidates well.

Coupled with our industry expertise, we know who and we know how which is why we successfully connect the right people with the right jobs”, said Stefan Cohen, Baraud’s Senior Recruitment Manager, explaining that the ‘Know who, Know how’ strapline accompanying their new brand mark emphasises this unique selling point.

To complement its revamped identity, Baraud has also commissioned a custom website, optimised for mobile browsing and online job search. “We are very pleased with the rebranding exercise so far and expect to see positive results for all our stakeholders”, concluded Cohen.

In acknowledgment of company founder, Betty Baraud, Cohen and Brady have chosen to retain the Baraud name. “Although this is a new team with a new approach, Baraud is a household name and we want to build on that legacy”, Brady explained. The agency of choice for Immigration, Recruitment and Outsourcing needs, Baraud has strong credentials but striving for customer service excellence,

Cohen and Brady are keen to grow. “To provide our clients with the best service possible, we now offer Recruitment Process Outsourcing. A relatively new concept to the Cayman Islands, Recruitment Process Outsourcing (RPO) is the outsourcing of the internal recruitment function for an organisation’s specific business unit”, said Brady. A local pioneer of the process, Baraud has recently managed the temporary recruitment outsourcing for Butterfield Bank, including search, selection, on-boarding, performance management and payroll of all temporary staff.

“When we decided to outsource, we had to choose our outsource partner carefully.” Explains Elizabeth Depledge, HR head at Butterfield Cayman, adding, “During the selection process, Baraud quickly proved to be the most credible option given their track record and experience. They have improved our company’s time to hire temporary resources and assisted us with the cultivation and retention of talent. Baraud has exceeded our expectations and continues to provide us with an

exceptional level of service”.

“We also offer outplacement consultancy, assisting companies with their downsizing initiatives. We provide support from the initial consultation right through to finding alternative employment for those in the programme”, he said.

Employees of Baraud since 2008, Brady and Cohen are well connected, each bringing a wealth of industry experience. Prior to moving to Cayman, Alan Brady worked for the S3 Group, Europe’s largest IT agency and Manpower, the world’s largest recruitment agency, where he spearheaded the RPO for

Googleplex, Google’s European headquarters, Hewlett-Packard and France Telecom. Stefan Cohen, specialising in the financial services and legal sector recruitment, held positions with Deutsche Bank (Sydney) and Michael Page International, a global recruitment firm, respectively.

“Thanks to our dynamic team of professionals and sound connections within the industry, Baraud is a place where top employers and candidates can connect. We give our clients superior human resource support so they can focus on their core business”, said Cohen. “We manage the entire process from start to finish, including job description preparation, advertising and immigration compliance, candidate short-listing, behaviour assessment and psychometric testing, final interview and ultimately, job offer negotiations. We also offer on-boarding support to ensure a smooth transition”, he added.

“This is a new era for Baraud. We have a great team committed to delivering outstanding results. We have the know-how to provide cutting-edge solutions and we’re always on hand to provide sound advice and expert assistance”, said Brady confidently.

Baraud’s services include executive search, Recruitment Process Outsourcing, temporary, temporaryto-hire and permanent recruitment, outplacement, work permit application processing and handling, permit tracking, passport regularisation, employee consultation and Business Staffing Plan Board liaison.

Baraud also manages Naturalisation, Permanent Residency and Caymanian Status applications.
