New seasons of “Girls” and “Togetherness” premiere on HBO on February 21st
Emmy®-award-winning series, “Girls”, returns for its fifth season, followed by the debut of the second season of the original comedy “Togetherness”.
MIAMI, FL. – February 11, 2016 – HBO continues to bring the best in programming on Sunday nights with new seasons of Girls and Togetherness, premiering on February 21st, starting at 23hrs AST*. The new seasons join the stellar Sunday lineup, which follow the brand new original drama, Vinyl.
The fifth season of Girls picks up where Hannah left off, after she decided to put her writing ambitions aside to pursue a career in teaching, alongside her new boyfriend, Fran. Meanwhile, Marnie is consumed with planning her pending nuptials to musical paramour, Desi, though she may be questioning some of her choices. Jessa appears to be on a newfound path towards becoming a therapist and keeping her life in order, while Shoshanna made the leap and took a new job in Tokyo, where she appears to have acclimated well, while maintaining a long-distance relationship back home.
Starring Lena Dunham as Hannah, the cast includes: Allison Williams as Marnie, Jemima Kirke as Jessa, Zosia Mamet as Shoshanna, Alex Karpovsky as Ray, Adam Driver as Adam; Andrew Rannells as Elijah, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Desi, and Jake Lacy as Fran. Returning guest stars include: Rita Wilson as Marnie’s mother; Peter Scolari and Becky Ann Baker as Hannah’s parents; Jon Glaser as Laird; Gaby Hoffman as Adam’s sister, Caroline; Aidy Bryant as Abigail; and Jason Ritter as Scott.
Judd Apatow, Jenni Konner, Lena Dunham, Ilene S. Landress, Murray Miller and Bruce Eric Kaplan executive produce Girls. The show has been picked up for a sixth and final season, scheduled to air in 2017.
Starring Mark Duplass (Safety Not Guaranteed) as Brett Pierson, the cast also includes Melanie Lynskey (Two and a Half Men) as Michelle Pierson, Amanda Peet (The Good Wife) as Tina Morris, Steve Zissis (Jeff, Who Lives at Home) as Alex Pappas and Abby Ryder Fortson (Transparent) as Sophie. Guest stars include Peter Gallagher (The O.C.) as Larry, John Ortiz (HBO’s Luck) as David, Joshua Leonard (Bates Motel) as Dudley, Ginger Gonzaga (Ted) as Christy, Emily Althaus (Orange Is the New Black) as Natalie and Katie Aselton (The League) as Anna.
Togetherness was created Jay Duplass, Mark Duplass and Steve Zissis; the Duplass brothers serve as executive producers alongside Stephanie Langhoff.
