New year, new challenge!

From Krysta Bisnauth, Freedom United

We hope you’re feeling refreshed and energized to take on 2023!As we welcome the new year, we’re ready to keep pushing for systemic change to end modern slavery in all forms with our collective community power.

There are plenty of reasons to take action this National Human Trafficking Prevention Month. Did you know? According to the latest research:

* The number of filed criminal forced labor cases in the U.S. increased by 22% between 2020 and 2021.[1]
* For new forced labor cases in 2021, 93% of identified victims were foreign nationals.[2]
* 57% of victims identified in new criminal human trafficking cases were minors in 2021.[3]
* Nearly one-in-five homeless youth in the U.S. have been a victim of human trafficking – inclusive of sex and labor trafficking, or both.[4]
* Over half of global state forced labor cases involve forced prison labor.

So, let’s start the year off right! If you have a few minutes to spare, we’ve got three things for you to tick off your new year to do list:
