News from National Gallery of the Cayman Islands
“Bright Young Things”
Friday 29th November, 2013 – 6:30pm until the early hours
This year’s highly anticipated National Gallery Fundraising Gala is inspired by the spirit of the 1920s as captured through the artwork of artist and socialite Tamara de Lempicka. Nestled between the two World Wars, the roaring Twenties was the age of Jazz, flappers, the Charleston, the Bright Young Things, and F. Scot Fitzgerald.
This era of lavish living and all night parties will be recreated for one night only on the elegant grounds of the National Gallery. Party-goers can flap their skirts and shake their boas to the old time sounds of jazz and “hot dance”, or you can relax while sipping a martini with your sweetheart in the cigar lounge. All while helping raise funds for the National Gallery’s Education Department!
Special features:
* Cocktail hour with a Live Jazz Trio(complimentary cocktail included)
* Casino games – black jack/roulette etc. with an exciting ‘grand prize’
* Three-course dinner with wine (catered by Mise En Place)
* After-dinner dancing with Oneworld Entertainment
* Live and Silent Auction
* Late night Cigar/martini lounge
Tickets are CI$185 pp. or CI$1,750 per table (10). Tables of 12 are available at a cost of $2220 (limited number). For tickets email [email protected] or call (345) 945 8111.

Images evoke yesteryear memories for seniors
Seniors gathered at the National Gallery this week to view a special exhibition of images depicting life in the Cayman Islands in past years.
The photographs brought back poignant memories of yesteryear, including smoke-pan days, neighbors helping each other thatch roofs and sharing the little that they had.
The outing was part of a month-long celebration of seniors in the community, helping to make a connection to days gone by.
