NOISES OFF – TICKETS NOW ON SALE!
Cayman Drama Society presents: “NOISES OFF”
Our second production of 2021, NOISES OFF by Michael Frayn, is in rehearsal and is generally described as the funniest farce ever written. Even more appropriately, our CDS actors will have to dumb down, because the play is about a second rate theatre company, rehearsing with opening night just a few hours away – and with a cross-country tour of theatres to follow, things could not be worse. Seen from both auditorium and backstage, the action covers all of those things that a director fears – lines are forgotten, props are misplaced, animosities are blossoming between off-stage lovers, and errant sardines are creating pandemonium. Can the cast and crew lift themselves from mediocrity to standing ovation? NOISES OFF director, Paul Njoka, has assembled a worthy cast and crew to bring NOISES OFF to the stage for its opening on May 20th, 2021 with Catherine Marron in the Assistant Director’s chair. Producer for CDS is Fay Anne de Freitas. The complicated set, which has to revolve at the interval to show the rear of the two-storey structure, is being built by Paul de Freitas, Peter Pasold, Bill Mervyn, Frank McGill and Liam Oko.  NOISES OFF was last performed by CDS in 1985 at the Harquail Workshop Theatre. It was originally scheduled to be performed again in our 50th Anniversary season of 2020 but had to be postponed. **Please note this has been rated a PG-16 due to strong language throughout. The running time is approx 2hr15 mins, and has two short intermissions.***We are aiming to put on an accessible performance of this on June 10th – if this would be your preference, tickets will be on sale once this is confirmed for that date.* You can buy your tickets now by clicking here! |
